Summer Solstice comes to those of us living in Orange County this Thursday, June 21st at 3:07am. Many of us celebrate this day for so many different reasons – end of school year, amazing Summer vacations, or simply great beach days. All of these are great reasons to celebrate, but pause for a minute and think about what Summer Solstice really represents. The ancient ones from all cultures understood this deeper meaning and celebrated this event in many ways, but with the same intention – to honor the light within and our connections to the Earth and Sun.
Timet the Sun, is our star whose warmth and radiance allows us to live on this sacred Mother Earth, to grow and to prosper, to nurture ourselves and others. Without Timet the Sun, where would we be? Without Mother Earth, where would we be? We are all connected – indeed, we all are one. So, please give thanks this week as we enter into this time of supreme solar light and energy. Remember that this light of life that shines within you, shines within all. Humbly, offer your prayers of gratitude to the Sun, to Mother Earth and listen as they sing back to you.
Dance, sing, chant, walk, run, swim, hug, cook – do whatever calls to you to celebrate this season of light . . . and shine, shine, shine dear ones. It is the sacred gift and responsibility of us all!
Loving the light in you . . Cher (Siri Ravi Kaur)
